Flyball Racing At Its Best

Roxie, a black Labrador retriever, has been racing since 2011. She has earned her TFE II in U-FLI and FDCH & MBD in NAFA. Along with Flyball she loves her daily walk and being a therapy dog.

Roxie and Karen completed training and became certified as a Therapy Dog and handler through Therapy Dogs International in 2013. They regularly visit assisted living and nursing homes in the Sonora area. In September, 2013, Roxie began going to Sonora Elementary School as a "Tail Waggin Tutor". This is a special program for children having difficulty with reading. There are four students who read to Roxie in a little room specially set aside for the dogs and children to read in.

Roxie goes to the Rim Fire Camp 2013: Roxie and Karen (along with about 12 other dogs and handlers) visited the Rim Fire Camp in Tuolumne City. These certified Therapy Dogs provided comfort, pets, love, a break from the stress for firefighters. They also focused on employees of the Stanislaus National Forest that were not only dealing with fire activities, but also the risk to their own homes and the devastation on the land they care for.
